The key points of solvent-less laminate process mainly include tension control, coating weight control, curing condition setting and control, etc. The main reason why Polaris solventless laminating machine is highly respected by users is that the three core processes are well handled.


1.  Tension control.

The tension control in solventless laminating process, including primary unwinding tension, traction tension after primary unwinding coating, second unwinding tension, taper control of rewinding tension etc. Generally speaking, the film tension after coating is a litter bigger than primary unwinding tension, rewinding tension is a litter bigger than unwinding tension. The match of tension various according to the specific conditions of base material, generally, the film traction tension should be a litter bigger than the primary unwinding tension, rewinding taper usually in the range of 10%~40%. the treatment of solventless laminating machine: adopt bearing type tension sensor instead of traditional floating roller tension sensor, the bearing type tension sensor has the features of fast response speed, high precision and small displacement, etc, the bearing type tension sensor can detect tension in real time, realize tension feedback, meet the requirement of tension closed loop control, so it is suitable for high precision tension control system; In addition, permanent magnet AC synchronous servo motor is used instead of DC motor, and independent servo control is carried out to improve the control accuracy; In addition, the roll diameter parameters of real-time changes are input into the PID control, adopt the adaptive PID control mind, to control the variable parameter system by the control mode of variable parameters. Besides, in rewinding section, with the gradual change of roll diameter, the tension and speed also changed accordingly, if always keep the same tension to rewinding, may lead to fold, material cutting and other bad phenomenon, in order to make the rewinding tension reach the state of tight inside and loose outside, to avoid fold, it’s necessary to control the tension taper tension, that is, change the rewinding tension whit the change of roll diameter. Therefore, three independent taper controls are used in the rewinding section of Polaris solventless laminating machine to improve the rewinding effect.

2.  Coating weight control.
The gluing fastness is determined by the weak spot between the binding fastness of the adhesive to the base material and the strength of the adhesive material itself, Theoretically, using adhesive laminate two base material, in the situation of the amount of adhesive enough to completely coated on the surface of the base material, the thinner the better, in fact, duo to the inevitable of coating defect during coating, in order to obtain good bonding strength, need enough coating weight, Usually, the coating weight of composite film for light packaging without printing is in the range of 1.0 ~ 2.0g/m2; The coating weight of light packaging film with printed pattern is in the range of 1.2 ~ 2.0g/m2; heavy package and boiling bag and other product, need a higher coating weight, up to 2.0~3.0g/m2 . the increase of coating weight will increase the production cost, and too much coating weight can not significantly improve the peeling strength of laminated product, after reaching a certain coating weight, further increasing the coating weight may even reduce the peel strength of the laminated product, so there is no need to increase the adhesive coating weight without limit. The treatment of Polaris series solventless laminating machine: The metering roller, transfer rubber roller and coating roller of the five-roller coating unit adopt independent servo drive and linear independent adjustment respectively to ensure the accuracy of the speed. In the five rollers, the metering roller and the transfer rubber roller have different linear speed, which are also different from the coating roller. The linear speed of the metering roller and the transfer rubber roller are lower than the linear speed of the coating roller (i.e., the linear speed of the host machine). A reasonable linear speed ratio among the three is = metering roller: transfer rubber roller: coating roller =0.1:0.25:1.0. besides, the gap between the rubber roller and metering roller will directly affect the coating thickness, the gap value is usually controlled in the range of 7 ~ 12 wires. By this treatment, the  solventless laminating machine can make the adhesive to be coated in the coating roller to form a film.



3.  Curing.
The curing treatment of laminated film roll is also an important process to obtain high quality products. The curing temperature usually between 30-50℃, the curing time is generally about 48 hours, the curing conditions are mainly determined by solventless adhesives and should be set according to the information provided by the manufacturer of solventless adhesives. The curing room should be equipped with ventilation facilities, which can control the deviation of indoor temperature within the range of 2%, if the ventilation is poor, it’s better to manually turning the film roll during the curing to improve the curing uniformity of the film roll.
